Celebrating Get Online Week 2021

20 October, 2021

Opening up world of online possibilities for seniors, Get Online Week 2021 kicked off this Monday, providing support to many people wishing to get online confidently and safely.

With 2.5 million people offline in Australia, Odyssey Lifestyle Care Communities, Southport Sharks, Basic Tech and Mable teamed up and got involved in the digital inclusion campaign with a tech training session.

Odyssey residents participated in a tech training session at the Southport Sharks to learn how to do simple activities such as video calling, searching for recipes and buying or selling online.

Basic Tech owner and Digital Mentor Claire Robinson, who visits us at Odyssey, helped many participants build their confidence when getting online in a fun and friendly environment.

Channels 7 and 9 Gold Coast News came along for the event and interviewed Odyssey’s residents, Phil and Claire from Basic Tech.

Organised by Good Things Foundation Australia, Get Online Week helps Australians improve their digital skills and close the digital divide.

Taking place from 18-24 October 2021, hundreds of local events are taking place in person and online where people can learn the essential skills needed for today’s digital world.

The theme of Get Online Week this year is ‘Get online. Get connected’ and encourages people to get online confidently, safely and affordably, which has never been more important.
